City of Liverpool FC are pleased to announce that midfielder Stephen Rigby has signed for the 2021-22 season.

Rigby initially signed in February 2020 from Ashton United shortly before the first lockdown, and last season was made the most appearances for the club before the campaign was again halted by the pandemic.

Rigby made 14 appearances in total and opened his Purps account with the crucial third goal in Michael Ellison’s first game at Brighouse Town, before also notching in the home rout of Pontefract Collieries.

A versatile player, Stephen is comfortable on either side of defence or across the midfield and has impressed supporters with his aptitude in a number of positions.

Manager Michael Ellison explained, “Ste Rigby is a player we know well. Even though I’d not worked with him before it feels like he’s been around for ages!”

“He’s technically excellent and as fit as they come, he’s got a great attitude and can play anywhere. I am delighted we’ve got him for another year”

Rigby added, “I’m made up to have re-signed for the Purps.”

“I knew I wanted to stay as soon as I spoke with Ello. I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and can’t wait to get going again.”

“Hopefully we can start the season off well and push towards the top of the table.”
