The broad vision that brought the founding members together was one of a football club that was owned by our community and represented the community’s civic, social and cultural identity.
City of Liverpool FC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Danny Taberner from Atherton Collieries.
The 28-year-old started his career at Rochdale and at the age of 16 became The Dale’s youngest ever custodian when he made his debut in an FA Cup fixture against Luton Town in 2009.
Taberner has also previously represented Salford City, Stockport Sports and Prestwich Heys, before spells at Northwich Victoria and Atherton Collieries.
Our new ‘keeper will be no stranger to Purps fans, having played against the Purps for both Vics and Colls in the past.
Danny was somewhat of a fan’s favourite at Colls having made 114 appearances over the years for the Skuna Park side.
Taberner made his debut in Saturday’s goalless draw with Trafford and was an assured and commanding presence throughout, making a string of fine saves to earn himself the man of the match award.
Welcome to the Purps, Danny!
