City of Liverpool FC are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Quarless from Burscough.

The striker has been in fine form for the Linnets so far this season, with 13 goals and 5 Man of the Match awards already to his name for the NWCFL Premier Division team.

Quarless has also impressed against his new side during recent friendly fixtures with Burscough, grabbing a goal and an assist in behind closed doors match in December 2020.

Josh caught the eye once again against the Purps during this year’s pre-season campaign, putting in another typically all-action cameo.

The forward will also be a familiar name to followers of the Liverpool Sunday football scene, with various clips of spectacular strikes for FC Dovecot and Sefton Athletic regularly doing the rounds on social media in the past couple of years.

The Purps have beaten off interest from a number of non-league sides for the sought-after striker, and manager Michael Ellison is delighted to get his man.

Ello explained, “Josh is a player who we have kept out eye on during the course of this season.”

”He’s put in some really good performances for Burscough and scored goals. Having spoken to him, he really wants to make the step up and prove himself at this level.”

”He’s got everything you need and want from a forward. He’s big, strong, good in the air, he’s got great feet and he’s got an eye for goal.”

“I think the pleasing thing is that there was a number of clubs chasing his signature at our level and the level above, but he’s chosen the Purps.”

”I’m delighted to have him on board and he goes straight into the squad against Leek Town next Saturday.”

Quarless is equally as enthused as his new manager, adding, “I am excited to take on this new challenge and I’m ready to step up for the Purps and prove what I can do.”

City of Liverpool FC would like to place on record our thanks to Burscough FC for how they have conducted things and enabled us to complete Josh’s arrival in a speedy and straightforward manner.

We are sure that all supporters will join us in welcoming Josh to the club.
