City of Liverpool FC is delighted to announce the signing of experienced forward Jamie Rainford.
The former Chester FC marksman departed Runcorn Linnets at the end of last season, where he held the role of Player/Assistant Manager and was a popular figure at the APEC Taxis Stadium.
Rainford was top scorer for Linnets with a brilliant 20 goals in 38 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, before his campaign was ended by a long-term injury.
Jamie’s career blossomed as a youngster at Marine where he notched a blistering 22 goals in 24 matches, earning a trial at Notts County under the management of Paul Ince.
A move eventually materialised to Chester FC in the summer of 2011 and Rainford has also represented clubs including Halifax Town, Connah’s Quay, Witton Albion, Colwyn Bay, Ramsbottom and Glossop North End.
Rainford’s blend of experience with a cunning eye for goal is something which attracted him to Paul McNally once his availability was confirmed.
The manager explained, “Jamie is a very prolific and experienced striker who is capable of adding more goals to our team”.
“He is a player I have known for a number of years and once he become available we set about bringing him into the club”.
“When Jamie settles into the team and our style of play during pre season, we know he will provide a cutting edge”.Â
Welcome to City of Liverpool, Jamie Rainford!
